The tyre's tread pattern with four circumferential grooves and a 36% void ratio effectively removes water and prevents aquaplaning. The broad circumferential grooves and thin lateral grooves on the inside are designed to enhance the water removal. The thin sipes improve handling when cornering and lateral traction on snow. The cylindrical sipes on the outside enhance the tyre's crawling ability and traction on snowy and icy surfaces.  The links between the outside blocks increase their rigidity, thus improving the tyre's steering properties.   The Taiwanese Nankang is one of the oldest most traditional tyre manufacturers in Asia.
